To bludgeon a 4-ounce animal to death, it takes either a small man or a totally unthinking one—with no respect or consideration for lives humbler than his own. This is a time when athletes in particular need to be on their best behavior around any animal and show that they have brains and a heart, not just reactionary brawn.
Bats always try to avoid contact with humans, and there are plenty of easy ways to keep bats out of a basketball arena (or your home). We hope that the next time someone’s life is on the line, Manu Ginobili will take just a few seconds to think before he acts.

This is unacceptable from PETA’s part. Its fine to post your thoughts on the killing of ONE rogue bat, but when you compare it to what Mike Vick did, that’s just unacceptable. Its like if someone compared a child stealing a lollypop from the near dollar store to a bank robbery done by professionals. PETA is a shock organization, trying to get their name into the papers as often as possible to gain more followers.
The thing that ticks me off about the situation is that PETA totally ignores the FACT that someone brought the rogue bat to the arena in the first place. It was done as a prank. If PETA knew any better, they would attack that random fan that decided that letting a bat go in an arena was a great idea. But, PETA knowing that no one would read that story, decided to attack Manu. What a shame.
For caring about LIVING things, PETA sure doesn’t like the human species. Manu didn’t attack the animal in malice, he was trying to make sure the bat didn’t interfere with the flow of the game. If PETA can’t respect humans, they shouldn’t get your donation money.
